The last year has brought with it a whole host of time for reflection for us. New music that had been gradually unfurling, slowed and retreated. We had been trying to break routine, escape and write in nature. We will of course resume when we can and can’t wait to share the work, whenever that turns out to be. In the meantime we realised that Violet Cries, our first album, turned ten years old last month and now have put together a small offering to honour that occasion. We will fire up the press and make another run of our Violet Cries T-shirts. We will also reprint the postcard set that came with the album all those years back. One card for every song with artwork inspired by Rachel’s words. And finally we have unearthed a live recording of a show from Brighton, our then hometown where it all began for us, back in 2011. Listening back these last days has been a genuinely emotional experience for the three of us. Not least because live music has faded into the background of our lives for now. Taking to a stage and feeling that sense of communion had become such an important but somehow unacknowledged part of our lives and oh how we miss it now it’s gone. But also just because the live show gives a sense of how far we’ve come. Of where we started, where the journey has taken us so far and suggestions of where it may lead. It has been an honour to take this road with you all. Your enduring love and support us has made it all possible. Until we can meet again in person, we hope this can perhaps provide you a little joy as it has for us. Tonight friends, we raise a glass to the journey so far.
