DVODUSHNYK (Maria Khymynets)
Carpathian forest dweller, daughter of Carpatho-Ukrainian highlanders and steppe cossack tribes. Follower of an old path of pre-Christian tradition, who is working with symbols, myths, cosmogonic beliefs and superstitions. Pouring in her works the world of the tribes for whom the Nature is a temple, who worship the Sun, the Moon, and a Thunder, who control the weather and live with old magic.
Dvodushnyk in Carpathian tradition is a person who carries two souls and two hearts in themselves, one is human, and the other one is not from our world. The second soul is a bridge to the sacred world, it frees itself when the person is asleep, takes various animal or human forms and wanders around the mountains. We invite you to take a walk with this soul and unveil the forgotten world of fog-covered Carpathian Mountains, crying steppes, and old forests full of spirits.
