Idylls

A small book of Romantic poetry for the 21st century, written and illustrated by Haus Nostromo co-founder, Rachel Anna Davies.

Inspired by the pastoral visions of English Romantic landscape painter Samuel Palmer - in turn inspired by the mysticism of legendary printmaker and poet William Blake - Idylls is an ode to the places where we find peace - a world away from screens and artificial intelligence, finding humanity and re-enchantment in the natural world and our humble existence within it.

With nine miniature lino prints accompanying nine lyrical verses of bucolic bliss, enter a world both archaic and eternal, in an attempt to reconnect with our landscape, our roots and our search for the divine.

“Through the orchard, hangs a gate
Its pearly whites, heav’n’s domain.
Cast in stone and splintered wood
Oh, humble portal! Oh, blissful world!”
