Lore of the Land Zine - Whitby

Exploring the folklore of Whitby's famous monuments and haunted streets, from giants and vampires to saints and snakestones, this zine is a love letter to England's goth capital. But it also delves deeper, broadening its horizons to look at the rich catalogue of folk tales and eerie encounters that lie just beyond the town's fringes. Here be monsters; but also Viking burials, the Green Man, fairies, spectral black dogs, ruined castles, standing stones, and much more.

The release of this zine marks the culmination of over a year of researching, writing, photographing, and illustrating. It has allowed us to immerse ourselves in one of our favourite places in the world, and we hope it proves to be an interesting and useful resource for those wanting to learn more about the area’s overwhelming array of stories.
